Train-ing Day

7 Nov

There is something glamorous about taking the train.Very post-war chic. Alfred Hitchcock “Strangers on a Train” appeal and mystery, the swanky feel of being swept away on the tracks.

The leather seats of business class, the complementary beverages and scenic route of the landscape as it whips, or creeps, by.

Even if your business class seat is in front of the garbage cans for that train car, and the restroom door keeps sliding open after middle-aged business men dance in front of your seat while waiting their turn, then use the facility and don’t care for whatever condition they left it in.

It’s a good lesson to not let exposed toilets or garbage ruin your glamy feel. And no, I did not find someone to hatch an ingenious murder plot with. Maybe next time.

Come on ride the train, and ride it....

Linda – if you have the time to travel, it’s so enjoyable and relaxing!

I have always enjoyed riding on trains as long as I have plenty of time to get where I’m going. I took a train from Amsterdam to Zurich and it was an amazing way to view the scenary.

Men should wear fedoras and cowboy hats.

Agreed – sometimes the train affords you views that you can’t see otherwise.

I love the train! Despite the fact it takes 12 hours to ride 60 miles. It’s to bad the USA hasn’t kept up with standards of our trains. It was the hippest way to travel during the 30’s- late 50’s. I also miss men wearing business hats. Can’t we bring that back?

It’s true, Jackie. If you want to feel glamorous in SLOW motion, the train is for you.

Yes, let’s bring classy hats back for men. Not those trashy fedoras that Quiksilver sells, but legit hats.

Let’s someday all take a trainride together. It will be fabulous!
