Kitty Cardigan

11 Jan

Six months ago, I bought this cardigan.

I have worn it zero times. Every time I put it on, it seems so prim and dull. It was certainly missing something.

After thinking about what would be just the right touch for this cardigan – I realized – why not embroider it?

Ends up, the project was fairly easy.

Just as with any embroidery project, cut out and iron on the pattern onto the fabric.

Once you are ready to stitch, be aware of the stretch in the cardigan material. I recommend a backstitch to keep the material from looking distorted. Here’s a great tutorial on how to master the backstitch.

Once you are finished, iron the creases from the hoop from the cardigan and promptly wear to work!

ME-OWW indeed.

aDORable!! The cat graphic is so 60’s retro; think Jetsons, Rock Hudson, classic martinis,(okay, I’m dating myself), but so cute!
    great job, Erin!

I adore Rock Hudson (I’m torturing Steve right now by watching McMillan and Wife – one of my favorite TV shows of all time). Thanks for the compliment! It was a fun project. 🙂

As they said the the 30’s and 40’s, that cardigan is the cat’s meow!

It sure is! At least the cardigan isn’t a big yawn-fest anymore!

It’s all very easy. I could totally teach you – but then you’ll realize just HOW easy it is, and the magic of my talent will evaporate. 😉 Eh, it’s worth it – let’s do it!

Thanks! I can’t help but “mew” even more when I’m wearing it. I think I need a 12 step program for cats.
